About

Kobolds are known to common folk as Tunnel Rats, they are small humanoids that have a scaly lizard-like bodies and rodent-like face with long whiskers. Distantly related to dragons, kobolds are a far cry from any dragonkin seen today. They sentient and driven by an uncontrollable instinct to dig. They horde all rare minerals and gems they find, some of them even take to eating the gems and then hiding them in pits with the rest of their ‘leavings’.

They once had settlements all over Lensmoor, as well as on Tikol. Any mines that seemed abandoned, even if it was only a temporary absence would quickly be filled by Kobold mining parties. In addition, to aid them in their goal they originally took to stealing mining equipment from gnomes, dwarves, and humans, although recent generations have learned how to make these tools themselves. Because of their thieving ways and invasive nature, they were seen as a major threat and exterminated as a race.

The few that remain struggle to rebuild their settlements. Nearly every kobold remembers what the other races did to them, and for that reason their entire race has embraced that hatred of other races; they see all who are not of their group as enemies to be destroyed.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Kobolds are a very awkward and backwards race; kobold bodies are magical in nature, so they are both more vulnerable and apt in magic, although very few kobolds actually have the intelligence to cast spells. Their rat-like faces are actually very soft and venerable to blunt attacks such as those by clubs and maces.

Locations

The only well-known Kobold Village remaining lies on Lensmoor, west of the Kingdom of Mirarand.
