Update on Troll Quest

By Dahani - Posted on 03 May 2013

I feel very horrible about the delay with the troll quest. In the interests of full disclosure, I do want to highlight the current progress.

My main difficulty has been finding time to work on this quest. I'm finally going to college and trying to do as good as I can, and that is taking up a very large amount of my time. I'm also homeschooling my son, Asher. Between both of these monumental tasks, when I log on Lensmoor, I find I usually just want to relax and hang out, not do more "work" (building's fun, not necessarily work, but still).

The second difficulty came in actually designing a quest. I knew I wanted to make a new quest, something that said "this is what the troll quest should be" to me. I was very pleased with how the new dragon quest turned out, and wanted something racially important. The problem was that it took me a long time to actually come up with some viable ideas, something that says "this is a relevant task to becoming a troll."

However, I do have good news. :)

I have finally come up with enough viable ideas that I feel comfortable with proceeding. I've asked for perms for a new zone, and have begun the initial building. I am planning on a smaller zone, something that I can complete within a reasonable amount of time.

I do have to say that I am very excited with the ideas that I have come up with (with help from other staff members like Dredor and Eladar - <3 you guys!). I am very eager to work on this project and give it done. It is a great feeling, to once again be *squee*giddy*YAY!* about building.

I am very hopeful that I can complete the bulk of the zone and the quest within the next week or two. The summer term begins May 13th, although I am only taking one class, so hopefully it will be fairly light.

I do apologize for the delay. I agree that it is absolutely unacceptable that the quest has been down for so long, especially with no alternative in place and no firm plans for a replacement. I will work as fast as I can to come up with a quality, fun replacement. I hope that you guys will forgive me and enjoy the new quest when it is ready.

Thanks for your patience and support,

Cara

January 2013 Update

By Dahani - Posted on 11 January 2013

Players have been asking for more input as far as what imms are up to. Some things are not suitable to be announced up front, but some of the more obvious things I am working on include:

  • A new zone is currently in the approval stage. Expect this to be opened soon!
  • The Winter Fair is being planned and will be opening later this month.
  • The new troll quest is currently being brainstormed and built. I would say this is probably my current priority project.
  • A couple of globals are being planned. One of them will be focused on crafters, and the other will be focused on thieves! Both of these should be ready to go during the late spring and summer. I am also currently brainstorming ideas for another Sword Brother global, but that may not appear until the end of the year.

I am taking college classes, and homeschooling my son, so many of these do not have definite dates.

Getting back on track, here's an update.

By Kron - Posted on 11 January 2013

Between the Harvest Festival, Christmas, The New Year, and my wife's renewed interest in World of Warcraft o_O .... I've been a busy and very side-tracked person.

If I had to venture a guess I'd say it was the World of Warcraft that was taking up the free time... but that's on hold for a little while. I'm back into Lensmoor and working on 4 things at once.

  • Tautha Quest
  • Making 100% sure that all demi-applications are archived in a safe place and not lost when the notes scroll off.
  • Future World Event (Yes [undisclosed player name], I am working on it)
  • Lensmoor's Newbie Guide for the website.

I severely underestimated some of the nuances of the Tautha quest that had to be re-examined and re-tweaked. A lot of it is actually in game right now if you can spot the minor additions and changes in other zones across the world (hint hint).

But in all seriousness, I'll try to be visible on the who list more often than I have been (minus weekends; Movie/WoW/other-fun time with the wife). I'd like to run some more mini-events for my followers and the rest of the game alike after I knock the #1 off my to-do list.

I've been compiling a list of problems people have with the melee vs magic balance as it is and will continue to do so for the next week or two.

Feel free to send any suggestions to me in the form of an in-game note.

Happy Holidays from me and the rest of the staff!

By Kron - Posted on 24 December 2012

The holidays came and quick. True to my word I've been working on the Tautha Quest, although some of the complexities of it have been taking longer than I would have liked. I took a break to run a Winter Brawl because I knew it wouldn't be finished by Christmas at this point and I wanted something to show for my time around here other than another 'it will be done soon!' because you've seen plenty of those already.

I was happy with how the Brawl turned out, although if non-heroes had shown up earlier I suspect it would have turned out differently.

I'll be looking to hold fights periodically both IC and OOC. That means a brawl for every season, although the extreme payout that Tradin received will be reserved for the Winter Brawl an end of year event. I also hope to (in association with Teon) pickup that FPK league idea that Darby had but never acted on.

We will to be looking into the logistics of FPK game ideas like capture location based attack/defense during the coming year.

There will be more posts on my plans to come, but after the holidays are over... marry christmas/hanukkah/non_denominational_season!!!

Possible Questfest+Features and more

By Kron - Posted on 17 December 2012

  • We are looking into running a QuestFest soon, but I can't confirm any dates or times as of right now.
    • We are looking at automating the team forming process so that it can be done from the obelisk with no IMM intervention required.
  • We are looking into running several World Events (globals) in the near to moderate future a ways after QuestFest is completed.

Now that school and the harvest festival are both over, I'm back to working on, and hopefully finishing the Tautha quest. I hope people will be able to have a stab at it by the end of the week.

I may be calling for players (91 but not maxed) to battle certain mobs sooner than that, to help fine tune it.

A 'big thing' is coming & General Updates

By Kron - Posted on 20 November 2012

We just held a player townhall and I think it brought up a lot of important issues. Here's a reminder that immortals will soon be divided into "teams". Matreya will be making an announcement soon regarding that.

In more or less 2 weeks a 'big thing' is coming. I'm not at liberty to talk about it, but it'll be beneficial to all players. It's been monopolizing my log in time for a while now, and it will be up until then. The immortal staff will be mostly busy with it, so just a heads up when you may think things aren't getting done, we are all stealthy working on things.

Get hope you like surprises ^_^

Hunt Over!

By Kron - Posted on 18 August 2012

Okayyy! First attempt at a Mobhunt game didn't exactly work the way I wanted it. There are some blaring bugs such as Subdued mobs don't give rewards when killed, some mobs changing their strength during the fights (becoming immune to fleeing), and not despawning properly after the final boss was killed.

Still my goal was reached, got a huge number of players to gather together and kill things for the celebration!

Many, many people participated of all levels, and scored quite a bit of QP; congrats go out to you all, although the most to the 91 and hero level fighters who battled off The Countess Arjanne, Empress Rash'La, Courge and Zeal, Zyrklees the Wicked, and The Pope! And finally faced off against the living polearm that was the cause of these doppelgangers appearing.

The winners who stuck it out to the end were Kam, Ruto, Gazfeldt, Morn, Tradin, and Droof! When the polearm boss broke it turned into an item that landed in the hands of Kam; you can feel free to bug him about this and poke guesses about the polearm's significance in the future ^_^

Now then, it's time for me to lay low until I can finish up what I need to.

Friends and Skyrim *shakes his head* Friends and Skyrim....

By Kron - Posted on 13 August 2012

Wasn't going to buy Dawnguard, and then one of my friends bought it for me. So I spent a few days not working on Lensmoor stuff and instead blowing up people as a Vampire Lord in Skyrim. -- Well that's mostly over now.

I'm back on the ball and hoping to roll out the Tautha quest by the end of the week. Hope being the operative word in all of this. I'm still planning on running my hunt this weekend and I get too close to the wire I'll switch rails and make sure the hunt goes forth. Having read the feedback I've gotten on the hunt, I've gotten some usable ideas; so thanks guys!

Now if I can just get a certain person to stop distracting me with shining tears, everything will be good.

We have a blog now!

By Kron - Posted on 07 August 2012

Hello people. This is the first post of the Lensmoor staff blog.

We will be posting ideas/thoughts/work-in-progress and welcome player comments. For too long we've had our blogs located in other places... well this website easily allows for it, so the question was, why not? So here we are!

In other news I've enabled signatures for the forums.
